Berlin, 24.09.2021. The competition jury with representatives from politics, science, business and the media has selected seventeen exemplary projects for the Energy Efficiency Award 2021 from around 130 applications submitted. Their evaluation criteria included particularly high energy savings, climate protection relevance, innovation and cost-effectiveness. On November 8, six of the nominees will be presented with the international award at the dena Energy Transition Congress in Berlin. This year, for the first time, small and medium-sized enterprises will be honored in the categories "Think big! Complex energy transition projects" and "From clever to digital! The broad spectrum of energy efficiency" will be honored separately with two awards. The award is endowed with prize money totaling 30,000 euros and is under the patronage of German Economics Minister Peter Altmaier. The premium partner is KfW.
The Energy Efficiency Award
This is the fifteenth time that dena has awarded this prestigious prize to private and public companies that are taking innovative steps towards climate neutrality. They had until June 2021 to submit successful projects and concepts for reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in four categories. In total, the jury nominated seventeen projects. All nominees will receive a label of approval from dena for their public relations work.
In the category "Concepts for a climate-neutral future", the three nominated companies have the chance to convince the audience of their concepts in a live pitch at the dena Energy Transition Congress. Voting will then decide which concept will be awarded the audience prize.
